For most of Type’s life, we’ve had a pretty firm stance: buy with confidence, no sales. Not because I’m opposed to discounts, but because I hate the constant markdown hamster wheel most consumer brands live on. It trains people to wait, turns every product into a coupon, and makes it harder for a small brand to stay sustainable without doing fake math in public.
To be clear: we have always offered discounts for students and military, and that’s been consistent from the jump. Those aren’t “sales” to me — they’re stable pricing for groups who deserve it, and we’ve wanted that to be part of the brand’s baseline, not a once-a-year gimmick.
That said: this year, we’re doing our first deal: a 2 for $88 bundle for Nurses Week.
Over the past year, I’ve heard from a lot of you about how tight things feel without splurging on a $52 bag. Rent is up, gas is way up, and the cost of just existing feels stressful. And I don’t want Type to drift into being a brand that only feels accessible when you’re having a good month.
At the same time, I want to be honest about what we can and can’t do. We can’t run the kind of steep discounting you’ll see from bigger brands, because our costs have gone up in very real ways: tariffs killed us this year, shipping costs, and increasing manufacturer costs (materials, timelines, and everything else that gets more expensive when global logistics are unstable). Those changes hit us immediately. There’s no giant budget cushion. It’s just boring (and kinda depressing) math.
So instead of quietly raising prices or doing a dramatic “70% off!!!” thing that isn’t real, we decided to do one clean, honest offer for Nurses Week:
2 Type A bags for $88.
The intention is simple:
-
If you want one for yourself and one for a coworker/friend: easy.
-
If you’re gifting (new grad, new job, birthday): done.
-
If you’ve been curious about Type but waiting for a moment that made sense: this is it.

This doesn’t mean Type is becoming a forever-sale brand. I still believe in stable pricing and “buy it when you need it,” not “wait for a coupon.” But Nurses Week felt like the right time to do something tangible for the people who’ve kept this brand alive — while still keeping the business sustainable.
If you’ve supported Type at full price: thank you. Truly. You’re the reason we’re still here and still building.
And if you’re a student or military: that discount is still there, same as it’s always been.
Happy Nurses Week. Take care of each other. And please, for the love of your back, sit down when you can.
